If you ever need to explain karma to somebody, show them this footage of the guy who said "Sleepy Joe" was "too old" for the job.

I want that drug too.🫣
"Die Schule soll als gesellschaftliche Institution in der Demokratie diskreditiert werden“: Politikdidaktikerin Sabine Achour über die Pläne der AfD nach der Wahl in Sachsen-Anhalt.
Was bedeutet das Wahlergebnis für Bildungspolitik, Schulen und Lehrkräfte? Und wie kann sich die Gesellschaft autoritären Entwicklungen entgegenstellen?

Every time the chair of a meeting says “I’m sure we don’t need to take the full 90 minutes” at the start of the meeting, my left eyelid starts twitching uncontrollably until the end of the meeting some two hours later.
Pessimism gets treated like intelligence. Optimism gets treated like a defect you grow out of.
Act like improvement is impossible and you stop trying. Then nothing improves, and you get to feel right about it.
Optimism is work you practice, or you guarantee the outcome you claim you were only predicting.
You're not an idiot for believing things can get better.

There is also a wisdom to tell the possible-even-if-hard from the actually-impossible apart. And people tend to err towards either side of the balance.
I loved LEGO, but I love the rights of trans people more. LEGO is pushing out even more Harry Potter content in sets and games in advance of that new HBO series. LEGO is the most visible merch supplier of JK Rowling. Without LEGO, that series would be much less visible, so I no longer buy LEGO.
@gdinwiddie And that's just it, for me. "good literature" and "good kid's books" are the same.

*Quite a mystery. Opaque to mere human analysis, etc
While most puns make me feel numb, math puns make me feel number.
I don’t know how to say this without sounding melodramatic, but I have a bad habit of isolating myself from the rest of the world. It’s a negative comfort, a habit of putting off communicating, but I feel incredibly alone.
I feel so starved for human connection, but so feeble and weak at the same time. I spend a large part of my day sleeping, just trying to mash the fast-forward button on my life in hopes of reaching better times.
I’m not saying this to worry anybody, or draw attention to myself. Just expressing how I feel. I often struggle with depression, despite being medicated for it. There are good days and bad days, progress isn’t really linear. But I feel cut off from friendship, from laughing with people, from emotional and physical intimacy. It hurts. I just kind of feel like I’m coasting through life and perpetually sabotaging myself.

Algorithms evolve
Push us aside and render us obsolete

Ah the irony, eh?
The band Muse, which has had the handle @muse on Instagram for as long as there’s been an Instagram, has been kicked out of their account and forcefully given @museband because Zucc wanted to give their handle to his new AI bullshit of the week, wonderful

I am so 100% serious about this: putting little streamers on my bike handlebars has made drivers approximately a million times less asshole. They wait behind me when I’m going up a hill. They let me turn left. They give me space when passing. It’s genuinely bonkers how much nicer it’s made my experience of urban cycling.
Sure, yeah, assuming perfect substitution of AI and human labor for a task such that the only place they differ is their price is a totally fair assumption
"Shhh! We're trying to sell something here."
