pro tip: tell your boss the AI said you’ll be more efficient at home and see which one of their irrational beliefs wins out
I shared a link to "the openai navier stokes solution makes funding basic research look like a bargain" and someone sent me this: dyson had 661 engineers over 6 years write 16 million lines of code to make an AI toothbrush that can shoot water in the gaps between your teeth but not on your teeth.
Can you imagine how much human suffering could have been alleviated by all the money wasted on developing this single AI toothbrush

I’m never going to tire of this graffiti.
It’s fantastic that someone wanted to spray paint the original message on a wall. Even more so that someone else wanted to emphasize it. A fine specimen of call-and-response by two strangers for everyone to enjoy.
And look at that cursive lettering. Pure #art.
@markwyner I _think_ that this was a particular artist or style or _thing_ of some sort because I remember coming across a ton of these around New York in the exact same script. Always just "I love you" with the lower case i.
I enjoyed seeing those... just like a little beacon of light in the middle of everything else.
Watching the moroder cut of Metropolis for #movieclub tonight.
I last saw the film sometime last year, and specifically watched the Kino "The Complete Metropolis (Blu-ray)"
I didn't think it was the first time I had seen the film going into it, but if I had watched it previous to that I must not have been paying close attention, or if I did watch it in highschool I must have been watching a bad PD DVD transfer that was missing a significant amount of footage.
I enjoyed it, but I don't suppose that's surprising. I love 20s science fiction films. I expected to enjoy it.
Regardless, I've never actually seen the Moroder cut, and only know it by reputation.
No, #BrokenTimes, Trump tries to buy votes with voters' money. Actually, voters' children's money: debt.
You correctly stated it: Trump is not trying to buy votes with the money from voters. There is no money.
Instead, Trump will increase the debt to pay for this.
He tries to buy votes with money that the voters' children will have to pay off.

I wrote about how we changed account creation on our server and how it did way more than just get rid of spam.
@tante Wow. Instead of making things “frictionless” and increasing (impersonal) automation, just … have people talk to each other. That’s great. I hope things continue to work out well.

thinking about the time I worked for a sex toy company and a man emailed us (and CCed a fake law firm) saying he was suing us because his wife left him after she bought one of our toys and my boss replied asking for permission to quote him in our advertising
Met a great guy and things were going really well until the third date when he told me he was a landlord and started complaining about his tenants. Ghosted him after that, not going to be living with a parasite
@evan oui, l'amour est le def.
Game concept: set teams loose in a Kmart, they have half an hour to identify as many products plagiarised off expensive brands as possible
Another fucking job site that charges job-searchers a subscription rather than job-posters. Fuck DailyRemote dot com and every other parasitic bullshit site that doesn't talk about subscription fees until after you've gone through their bullshit sign-up process.
