Alice Weidel is openly lesbian, lives with her Sri Lankan wife & their children. Co leads Germany’s far-right AfD(a party that opposes same-sex marriage, promotes a narrow idea of the traditional family, campaigns for mass deportations). Why is it surprising? Look around us for answers.
Being part of a marginalised group does not automatically make someone’s politics progressive. Identity tells us something about a person’s experience. It does not tell us what they choose to do with their power.

Curiosity made me try a de-alcoholised wine some time ago. I found it quite disappointing.
Maybe it wasn't served at the right temperature, but despite all the expected flavors were as expected, the absence of alcohol made it a very flat grapes juice.
I suppose alcohol is a strong (primary?) vehicle (chemically/physically speaking) to scents and tastes, boosting their channeling to our sensory experience.

I wasn't there, but someone (I think it was Benno Rice?) did a live reading of "Savaged by Systemd" with George Neville-Neil reading the part of systemd.

For charity.

Every so often, George would come across a line so offensive that he would balk until more money went into the bucket. It raised several hundred bucks.

Just shows you, there's no problem so bad that it can't be leveraged for good.

@thomasfuchs having very recently been to a 30th anniversary screening of Trainspotting and a 35th anniversary screening Terminator 2, I feel this completes my feeling-old trifecta.

And a huge physical library full of classics, special editions and more artbooks (already read like 20% of them, during my back pain days, so I might need to expand the library even more with more books).

I'm preparing for the apocalypse... with books and art :D
