This is interesting to compare to the really high monthly active user numbers that Meta have been publishing for Threads.
My hypothesis is that when people are asked about *ever* using some platform they might be inclined to say yes if they've used it at some point in the past few years and haven't sworn it off completely even if their use has significantly lapsed.
That would help explain why use of #Threads seems low both in relation to #Bluesky and #X which both have been declining.
@Sarahp it鈥檚 still like an open Slack/chat space for journalists, especially sportswriters and that keeps their fans around. And no one in management is making them cross post elsewhere to build audience.
@Sarahp it's understandable though. The network effect is hard to beat. The only "new" social platform that really made a hit in the past decade was tiktok which A. didn't outright compete with any established platform B. Focused way more on (cheap) content than the user base.
