This post from the President of Windows basically reads like someone trained an LLM on those SF billboards that just say incomprehensible nonsense.

@malwaretech Ah, so now evolving and transforming is good? I still remember this anti-Linux ad where Microsoft claimed open operating systems were at a disadvantage because they could "mutate" randomly.

We left the Bay Area not shortly after I saw a billboard on the 101 right around San Bruno:

"DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOU'RE 25 TO MAKE YOUR FIRST MILLION"

[This was long long ago, when IPOs were priced the size of what would be an angel round or low Series A today]

I'm sure there was a time when Silicon Valley was driven by idealism, but the culture has been toxic for as long as I can remember

@malwaretech I had to read that twice. The first time through my brain read "Windows is evolving into an _antagonistic_ OS ..." and it made sense until I go to the second sentence.

@malwaretech In other news, Sans Bullshit Sans needs an update.

The tweet typed into Sans Bullshit Sans (a font which, if you type certain words, puts "b.s." or similar over them as ligatures, supposed to be marketing terms or similar). Nothing is censored.

@malwaretech - only a matter of time before they make make the OS online-only and charge a yearly subscription.
You'll be left with, essentially, a dumb keyboard connecting to a mainframe somewhere. The exact opposite of the intention of a 'personal computer'. Windows 365, anyone?

@malwaretech I always feel the same with AI. They speak so proud about the possibilities and use big words and eloquent phrases... Not practical, real-life features 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

For me, it's just like a vendor at your door trying to sell you something you don't need.

@malwaretech I swear the people most impressed and invested in LLMs are those who _are_ an LLM running on meat - no reflection, no understanding, no internal world - just a fancy Markov chain meandering through Dare To Lead, 7 Habits, and the last blogpost they read.

Perhaps someone should tell them about how products should solve actual customer problems and pains, not invent new ones.

They have PMF (Product Market Fit) all wrong.

We are cloud. This is cloud. All in on cloud. It's like a type of noun use that is usually reserved for deities. Praise cloud.

@malwaretech I want to pay for a billboard in the south bay that says "their future is in your hands" and just has a picture of a corporate stock photo blond girl reaching out her cupped hands to a tiny dragon. No other explanation. No actual service, no point. Billboards are surprisingly expensive though.
