@maco I've wanted to host an instance for the Philly area for the past year. But as with all things not-big-tech it's the chicken and egg problem of "nobody knows what it is, no users so nobody migrates". I was talking about it to one of the organizers of my local 20s-30s group and he was like "wtf is Fediverse?". Sigh...
@studiop yeah. For DC Elixir the meetup dot com group still exists _for now_, so we used that to get people to show up this week then told them that we’re shifting to mobilizon and passed a QR code around the table. So now 11 of us are on there for that group, at least.
@maco No account in fediverse?
@Oleksii huh? Each profile and group a user in mobilizon has has a handle, and each event has a post.
Here’s me: @maco@mobilizon.us
Here’s the DC Elixir group: https://mobilizon.us/@dc_elixir or @dc_elixir
Here’s the event we hosted this week: https://mobilizon.us/events/05bd6ff6-5aff-47b4-be6f-d330d7637fed
@maco@wandering.shop @maco@mobilizon.us @dc_elixir thanks for sharing. I still believe a separate account for the project helps to recognize it and get popularity compare to accounts of team member. Sorry for being picky.
