A linocut print of "Rey Armadillo" (King Armadillo), a print my parents got for me and I've only just been able to get my hands on. I'll do my best to describe, it's a bit abstract: A stylized red armadillo stands on its hind legs. It faces 3/4 to the viewer's right, and its head is covered in white circles that might be eyes or maybe just texture. There are a lot of them and I like to think that they are eyes because that's weirder. Rey Armadillo is framed with a black layer of various objects that surround him. There is spiky grass that he is standing in, and he is flanked on either side by lizards or alligators that run vertically along the frame. The lizards are exuberant and each holds a handful of flags above their head. Hovering over the king is his crown, a simple stylized affair with a round ball atop each tine. Finally (also in black), several lines and triangles radiate away from the king, further lending him an aura of mystique and wonder. The paper is fairly thick and deeply embossed, giving a very pleasing texture to the print. The overall effect of the image is ever so slightly eerie, which is part of why I love it
