Paul Klee. Fire Clown I, 1921.
I'm giving a color-enhanced version here because I think it helps convey the original intent for us today. There's a lot going on in this seemingly childish image, from the very adult metaphor, to Cubism, to what would one day soon after be called Color Field.
#Painting watercolor

The same image as above only enhanced so that the colors are brighter, perhaps more as they likely were when originally painted

A loosely sketched watercolor image of an old-fashioned perot-like clown in a conical speckled hat. The crude figure is outlined in black but behind it are smears of color, in red, blue and yellow, which roughly center around the figured zones but do not stay within the lines. The central red smear is primarily behind and around the clown, which makes it appear on fire.
