Yesterday was pure magic: I loved every single presentation in the Social Web devroom, with devs and Fediverse champions sharing their inspiring work.
I didn’t post anything because I was so absorbed in all the talks (plus @liaizon and @Sascha did a fantastic job chronicling the event).
I can’t stop thinking about one of @benpate’s closing slides:
“Every single thing you do to improve the Fediverse is a win for humanity”

Every year, for several years, people at #FOSDEM keep talking about #FreedomBox.
We probably need something that's even more super-simple to set up and maintain, "marketed" toward a more general audience (which puts emphasis on things non-computer-tech people care about).
It should be resilient too, like image-based and having easy installation of things on top (container-based so it's not mixed in with the main system).
It should be named by what services provide, not weird project names.

I'm in Belgium for #FOSDEM and the #XMPP Summit, and ever since I crossed the border on Wednesday, my roaming has been extremely spotty or non-existent. It's amazing how much XMPP instant messaging traffic I can still get through a very slow EDGE connection, whereas the Mastodon API with Tusky doesn't work at all.
