Looking back from the mid-2020s, the arc of #web03, #NFTs, and blockchain culture is very clear. What once promised (lied about) decentralisation, liberation, and a break from corporate capture now looks like the same, mess, #techcurn pattern repeating itself, yes it had new language, new branding, but it was easy to see it had the same underlying mess making dynamics.

These proposed apps and the wider projects have nothing to do with self-optimisation, productivity hacks, or personal purity. Framing it that way is already defeat - that’s #stupidindividualism doing the work of the #dotcons for them.

We are stripped naked by the last 40 years of the #deatcult. Every assumption that we lived in a tolerant, “good” world. The class war was balanced to stop the possibility of a soviet takeover, as liberals see this, two accidents: a temporary ecosystemic surplus and a temporary post-WWII settlement. Both have been steadily dismantled. And when the foundations are gone, the liberal illusions fall with them.
