I took a "rest day" in San Mateo Rio Hondo and biked over to the much more trafficked San José del Pacífico on dirt roads. With the addition of coffee and removal of all my camping gear I felt superhuman.
Two days on a road between St. Augustin Mixtepec and Cieneguilla. I need to add it to OSM when I get home. I saw 4 vehicles, and suddenly crossed over from spiky brown to leafy green, nearing the Pacific moisture. #Oaxaca #Mexico #BikeSky #BikeTooter

I spent siesta time in San José Lachiguiri. These cisterns with faucets are very convenient for bikepackers. But I think they also mean much of the town lacks indoor plumbing.

After a week around 3000m in the Sierra Juárez I dropped down into the valley containing Mitla and Tlacolula at 1500m to cross over to the Sierra Madre Sur. The biomes are so different.

Took an overnight bus to #Oaxaca and rode a sleep deprived half day to Teotitlán, at the base of the climb into the Sierra Norte.
