I think this really sums up why we have such great news this morning. It's not about Labour or Reform's failures, it's about Green success. Green members getting the message out there in person. The might and power of (often corript) mainstreamand social media, backed by big money, was overcome by real people, who really care, spreading the message of HOPE

This is probably the last time we'll see Matt Goodwin in Manchester, so we'll say goodbye with this picture of him sulking like a man baby behind Gorton and Denton by election winner Hannah Spencer as she makes her victory speech.
Highlight of the #GortonAndDenton #byelection: The #DailyTelegraph sent their man out to talk to Green Party #GPEW canvassers.
It did not go well for him. 😅🤣
One thing that makes me very happy about the Gorton & Denton by-election result is it shows that claiming you have to vote tactically for Labour if you want to keep Reform out is bollocks. This was one of the safest Labour seats in the country, and the Greens still won it.
If you want to keep Reform out, then the message is clear: vote Green. That way you even get a party with policies that are different from Reform.

The Tories lost their deposit! Brilliant, no notes.
@GeofCox Absolutely! I used to know what the Labour Party stood for - it was written on the back of my membership card. "To secure for the workers, by hand and by brain, the full fruits of their labours and the most equitable distribution thereof, based on the common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange." I don't think anyone in the #GreenParty would disagree with that basic idea. #GortonAndDenton
Labour "We are the only party that can beat Reform"

Out of a potential of 78,125 in #GortonandDenton
Only 706 people voted Tory
Only 653 people voted Liberal Democrat
That is quite astonishing
As charming as ever, Matt Goodwin of Reform conceded defeat in the Gorton and Denton by election by describing the Green Party victory as "a coalition of Islamists and woke progressives that came together to dominate the constituency”.
Whatever, loser. That quote will be on a t shirt in Longsight market by teatime.

I understand the discussion in the Labour Party this morning is around whether the party has moved too far to the right to try to see off the ReformUK threat, so maybe it should 'pivot' left now to meet the Green threat.
What the discussion seems not to be about: what the party itself actually believes in.
