The 🇪🇺 Commission is taking a political chainsaw to hard won social, environmental, and digital protections.
We need #RulestoProtect not #Deregulation.

Check out our new cartoons below by Ralph Underhill and spread the word!

Political cartoon showing a chainsaw labeled ‘Simplifier’ cutting through a stack of papers labeled ‘Vital social and environmental protections.’ The chainsaw bears EU symbols and is powered by a red fuel can labeled ‘Corporate lobbying.’ Above, text reads: ‘Commission unveils new tools in so-called “simplification” plans.’ Cartoon by Ralph Underhill

We need #RulestoProtect not #Deregulation.

🇪🇺 Commission needs to stop doing bidding of big business & get back to regulating in public interest.

Thanks again to Ralph Underhill!

Political cartoon showing a large chainsaw labeled “Simplifier” cutting a green rope labeled “Regulation” stretched between two cliffs. Small people and animals are standing on the rope, about to fall. A figure above says, “We aren’t cutting, we are simplifying,” highlighting the danger of deregulation framed as simplification. And the 🇪🇺 Commission looks set to continue its turbo-charged #deregulation agenda.

There are rumours of more omnibuses, while other much-needed rules in the pipeline now look as it they will be substantially weakened, for example on #PFAS or #REACH reform .

Cartoon showing two suited figures standing beside a machine labeled ‘Turbo-Deregulator.’ One figure pours a stack of papers into a funnel decorated with EU stars. A speech bubble says, ‘You just put the vital laws protecting people and planet in here.’ Inside the machine, spinning saw blades shred the papers, and on the other side a box labeled ‘Simplified Laws’ releases a small pile of debris, symbolizing deregulation destroying protections. Forever-chemical firms continue forever EU lobbying

The PFAS corporate lobby should have been chastened by the revelations of the devastating impacts of forever chemicals – this has not happened.
