Officers responded to an armed person call in the area of Simcoe St S and Wentworth St E in Oshawa. During the interaction, an officer and the suspect were shot. The officer has been transported to a Toronto area trauma centre in critical but stable condition. The suspect was transported to a local hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

S/Sgt. McCabe will be providing an update at the scene. Time and location will be provided shortly.

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating after Durham police officer and a man were both shot during a "mental health call" in Oshawa's south end on Sunday morning.
