Happy new year, and therefore it is time to remember the ancient Greek god ‘Kairos’ (καιρός), the god of the perfect moment or timing. He helps bring the perfect moment to take some decisive action, or to make something happen.

The youngest son of Zeus, he is depicted running on tiptoe with winged heels. He holds a razor in one hand and a pair of scales in the other. A lock of hair falls over the front of his face, making him easier to seize as he approaches.

But the back of his head is bald, so, if you miss your moment, there is nothing to grab hold of.

The Roman equivalent of Kairos was Tempus (as in ‘Tempus fugit’).

May you see - and seize - the perfect moment for what matters most to you in 2026.

2025 was a year of radical change for me. Despite a UCTD flare up, I lost 50 lbs and took the vital step of cutting ties with toxic family to protect my mental health. Most importantly, I finally came out openly as Queer. I am omnisexual, and living that truth has been a major part of my journey this year.

I also finally deGoogled. It was a hard but cathartic experience. I deleted my accounts with Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Discord, Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit, moving my digital life to privacy-respecting, left-leaning services. Embracing FOSS, Debian, Docker, and Proxmox has been an incredible learning journey.

Moving to the Fediverse has been life-changing. For an introvert, finding a home here and posting regularly has been huge!

For 2026, I’m leaning toward the analog. I want to solidify my journaling habit, read more, and start walking in the beautiful park near our new home. I am even hoping to pick up a 35mm film camera.

Thank you to everyone I have interacted with here for giving me such a great outlet. I look forward to more conversations in the coming year.

This year was a busy year!

This year I wrote 28 articles for Privacy Guides, created 4 designs for our new merch store, started a new project you will soon hear more about, all while still working on my own projects as well. It was a busy year, but it was a good year.

May the next one bring even more new projects and community growth!

There will be many hard battles for privacy rights to fight in 2026. But together, there is nothing we cannot accomplish ✊💛
