> If the software is functional and fit for purpose

That "if" is doing a *lot* of heavy lifting, I hope it did some stretching first ; )

> if it performs advertised function. It's useful software

There are many good reasons to believe vibe coded software doesn't fit this description;

https://pluralistic.net/2026/01/01/39c3/

But even putting that aside, low effort software is much less likely to be maintained over time, or responsive in any way to the needs of anyone trying to use it.

@strypey

That last paragraph is actually the most potent argument I have seen against #vibecode in #FOSS

And I speak as a vibecode practitioner.

As to pluralistic.
I have huge respect for his past work, but I think he, like many who don't actually use AI is way off the mark and increasingly drifting further off it as the tech advances.
His "reverse centaur" is just laughable (to me) and "asbestos in the walls" assumes a world of Butlerian Jihad and that IMHo is higly improbable.
But as well as an activist he is also an author and no once can accuse him of not working to satisfy his audience.

Its a bit, like a vegetarian writing about steak cuisine.

But, thanks for curating FOSS, it's a rarely appreciated duty.

yc now wants your claude code transcripts, which is the first time a startup accelerator has explicitly asked you to show your homework to prove you didn’t do your homework

Y Combinator tweet announcing a new Spring 2026 application question allowing upload of markdown files or Claude Code transcripts with demos.

@Daojoan

Also shows poor understanding of #vibecode process...

... My CLAUDE.MD file changes as the project progresses to mitigate context and session rot.

Stoked to share my first major #vibecode project “Check-off’s List”. We used to use a paid app called “Buy Me a Pie”, but increasingly found the way it would sync (or specifically NOT sync) to be quite frustrating. In making my own I also addressed a few UX and admin issues I had with it. Repo is here: https://github.com/erikasboy/checkoffs-list easy to set up on Firebase or whatever you prefer. @kevin and @Casey I think this beats the Hot Tub Time Machine.

OK NGL, I did this before listening to @Casey and @kevin's encouragement to vibecode but still think this is the perfect place to share it. This is my tool to help me keep up to date with new music. It's like Letterbox for music I guess? Gathers a bunch of Best of List from 2025 and randomly serves you up an album from them to listen to. You can then review, track what you've listened to and share reviews!

Very much a vibe code experiment! #vibecode #fridge

@dajb it's okay to be wrong m8.

  • The problem with #AIslop and " #VibeCode|d" bs is that this directly harms others, including myself.

If you what to try something on yourself that's your thing, but don't force me (or anyone else) to suffer from #HypeBasedDevelopment!

If you're going to vibe code, why not do it in C?
