#NowPlaying ‘the sky chases the bird’, an austere yet intensely lovely, room- and mind-filling album by @microtones, picked up in #BandcampFriday yesterday.
I’ve bought—and have enjoyed—a lot of David’s work over the years but have missed the last few releases so this was a good opportunity to remedy that.
These two long pieces are “improvisations in a microtonal just intonation tuning”. Music of sublime slowness for these lifetimes that accelerate ever onwards.

Had half expected Harry Partch to arrive at his tuning system from a mathematical or visual perspective. Instead, got a rant against music that drifts too far from spoken word and a plea for a return to 'ancient greek' musical values. Much to unpack there, but a fascinating read so far nonetheless.
