The false claim that #vaccines cause #autism can be traced to a 1998 article that has since been retracted, but it has persisted for decades in #AntiVax messaging that has repeatedly come up in conversations at pediatricians’ offices. The connection has been repeatedly disproved through dozens of studies examining hundreds of thousands of children around the world.

“My question is, how language that misrepresents decades of research ended up on a #CDC website,” said #DebraHoury, the CDC’s former chief medical officer who also resigned in August. “ #PublicHealth communication must be accurate, evidence-based & free from political distortion. Anything less erodes trust & puts lives at risk.”
