I was thinking today, and @pluralistic corroborated it, about how the UK's liberal/leftist part has been called "Labour" for many decades. The idea is that workers--dare I say it *socialism*--is the core principle. The same used to be true of Canada's New Democratic Party, although without the explicit name.

Today I heard the 2nd of this year's Canadian Massey lectures, on the threats to human rights.
On the same day that Alberta suspended Canada's Charter of Human Rights in order to attack transgender people. They know that their vicious attack contravenes the Charter, which is why they suspended it even before the Supreme Courts hears a case.
We are all in danger here. We have to stop our governments from making this the norm.
The UK is considering withdrawing from the European Convention on human rights. Soon, none of us will be safe.
It's all in the name of taking rights away from others, but we are all "others" to someone if we do not unite in solidarity and stop this.
