Pushing my soldering skills with #MechanicalKeyboard design. The surface mounted 5-way navigation buttons were easier than I feared, but the (pre-planned) wires for the TRRS cable socket were much worse. Might simplify this if I make a revised version…

I still don’t have the TSSR sockets to finish soldering this wired split #MechanicalKeyboard, so for now I’m testing it as two half keyboards and trying to find the best angles for the planned single piece follow up #ErgoMechKeyboard - here’s a cardboard prototype of a ~40 degree tended keyboard. I've been having fun with the artistic possibilities of #PCB design within #KiCad - I have seen some stunning bits of art in this medium ( #PCBArt)!

This #MechanicalKeyboard PCB art effort is much simpler, some line art imported as a silkscreen graphic, and then some simple texturing with the ground fill hatching.

(Why a tent? This is a small tented #ErgoMechKeyboard, meaning the PCB and keys are tilted relative to the table. The keyboard has 34 keys and the name Bivouac34 refers to a small wild camp)

And then there were two: This post was typed on my phone using my first self built Bluetooth #ErgoMechKeyboard, running on battery power with #ZMK firmware: the Gamma Omega Hesse. Small 36-key mechanical keyboard in a black resin 3D printed case with Chosfox CFX square keycaps in black (home row and thumb keys), orange (top and bottom on left), and robin blue (top and bottom on right). The middle thumbs have a 1.25u keycap, as do the S&L keys (could do this at D&K instead), which fit because these are slightly smaller than the Kailh Choc keycaps this case was designed for. The index and pinky home keys have a homing bumb.
