🧵 FEDI ❤️ 1of2: Tired of doomscrolling and feeds that feel more like ads than community?

Big platforms promised connection but delivered endless scrolling, filler content, and “recommended” posts designed to keep us hooked.

Over time, they’ve even erased hashtags as a convention—because hashtags give people too much control. If you can find what you want directly, you don’t need their algorithm, which means less data harvested and fewer ads shown.

The #fediverse flips this model. It’s the internet we should have had:
🌱 No ads, no tracking
👫 Real communities, not just audiences
🔎 Hashtags instead of algorithms

Hashtags here are the backbone of discovery. They empower you to choose what you want to see and create shared spaces where communities form.

They also connect people across different servers, making the #decentralized network feel whole.

🧵FEDI ❤️ 2of2: Getting started is easier than you think
- Pick one app—Mastodon for chatting, Pixelfed for photos, PeerTube for videos.
- Use hashtags to explore topics you care about.
- Follow people you enjoy—your feed grows from your choices, not corporate profit.
- Join conversations—smaller communities notice when you show up.

Think of the fediverse like a network of neighbourhoods. Each has its own vibe, rules, and culture. You can move between them or stay in one that feels right.

Unlike the big platforms, there’s no single company controlling everything—you’re part of a wider web of people who choose to connect.

The fediverse isn’t about broadcasting to an audience. It’s about connecting with people, building conversations, and choosing what matters to you.
