One thing that doesn't sit right with me about Stranger Things season 5, Hopper and the gang seems to have become very cavalier about killing people. No hesitation, no obvious remorse, no planning to avoid the need.
It kind of reminds me of the scenes of families of the Dr Evil henchmen killed by in Austin Powers. Except that in Stranger Things our heroes completely lack the awareness that grunts are people with families that even Austin Powers manages to have, as a movie.
Stranger Things and Star Fleet Academy are Gen X nostalgic wish fulfilment -- What if we had the freedom we had in the 1970s/1980s, but also had parent who cared about us?
(the big difference between ST/SFA and The Goonies or ET is that the adults are actually characters we know about rather than just plot obstacles to overcome)

I have to hand to the creators of #StrangerThings. Me and my wife never so much of it, but started to watch it from season 1 a few weeks ago. We just finished S04E01. We're not the type of people would watch any type of horror series, but the buildup from season 1 to 4 has been skillfully enough done that we're still here watching it. If S04E01 would be the first episode we'd ever watch — no way would we have stuck with it. This is an impressive feat.

Alright, so the kids & I lucked out and we got to go see the #StrangerThings finale in the movie theater. We laughed, we cried, we gasped, and then we laughed some more.
Wow, what a bittersweet ending…not just because of the story itself concluding, but because of the nostalgia of our own lives. 😭
Watching a lot of videos about the Montauk Project, it's what Stranger Things was based off of.
A lot of it can be explained away or even just ignored as hooey, but I think some of what happened at Camp Hero and the show is real. But how much of it? Who knows. Well... the Duffer Brothers do. Ha!

After season 1 I stopped watching due to bad reviews but after season 4 ended I caught up and while season 2 wasn't my fav I really did come back strong and tell a really amazing story.
@kev I cooked the family a roast dinner and The Wife and I accidentally fell asleep putting The Daughter to bed. I just woke up. It's 22:00. The plan *was* to watch #StrangerThings with a drink and snacks but who knows what's happening anymore. 😅
I thought I might try to binge the entire last season of #StrangerThings today, but I’ve heard so much negativity about it I’m not sure I can be arsed. It’s like 8 or 9 hours without today’s finalé. Shall I just skip to the last part and get it out the way?

@arstechnica I haven't even watched the new season. I'm just not enthusiastic about it. They waited too damn long and I get that some of that was related to the pandemic and some of that was related to the strikes. But the reality is there is a huge amount of time between season 1 2 3 and 4. To the point that I've mostly lost interest. #strangerthings

Lego finally officially published the listing for the new Stranger Things set, "The Creel House" (11370).
Another $300 set, though at least this one looks easier to find a place to display than the Enterprise, which I didn't get.
Delaying the preorder until midnight on Jan 1 is certainly a choice, too. Maybe everyone else will be too drunk to get their orders in before mine so I can get the GWP.
