Amnesty International released a new report yesterday, which found that at least 2 billion people live within 5km of a fossil fuel infrastructure site.
They have been associated with elevated risks of cancer, asthma, cardiovascular illnesses and other health problems.
The industry has also been linked with human rights abuses, including killings and enforced disappearances.
