Chinese tech company DJI launches a robot vacuum with built in cameras and advertises that you can call up the vacuum from anywhere and look around your home.

On their website, they even found it relevant to show the vacuum looking around someone’s bedroom.

Let’s recap: China + camera = suveillance in your bedroom.

That’s a hard pass.

@randahl

Oh, so cool. Does it also depend on cloud services to operate? Would be exciting if AWS went down, and the thing started chasing your cat around the house.

There were 2 guys looking at Wi-Fi routers at Best buy. They asked me if I knew anything about routers, and I said I knew a little bit. They asked what I thought of Tp-link, and I told them they should Google The Washington Post article about #tp-link and Chinese hacking. They chose another brand.
