The non-stick containers in most air fryers are coated with Teflon, made with "forever chemicals" (PFAS).

I'm sorry.

I upgraded my kitchen to a stainless steel (Breville) toaster oven with an air fryer function, to avoid air fryer appliances / PFAS, and also the oven on my gas stove (carcinogenic benzene).

PFAS are worth avoiding wherever you can to the extent it's possible.

“As of July 1, the Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network (FoodNet) program has reduced surveillance to just two pathogens: salmonella and Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC)…[dropping 6]: campylobacter, cyclospora, listeria, shigella, vibrio and Yersinia. Some of them can lead to severe or life-threatening illnesses, particularly for newborns and people who are pregnant or have weakened immune systems.“
