Today in #Valheim Sten and I built a Drakkar and set sail for adventure. The journey was long and difficult, firstly navigating waters around the Mistlands, and then into the red near-boiling waters of the Ashlands.

We encountered a new serpent creature in the steaming ocean, the terrifying Bonemaw! Through the thick steam rising all around us, we saw giant jagged rocks reaching through the ocean towards the blood coloured sky where we encountered the horrific giant vultures patrolling everywhere.

We were feeling quite battle-weary navigating through the treacherous rocks and defending the ship from attacks coming above and below, when Sten called out “Land Ahoy!”, signaling that the coast was in sight. I pushed the Drakkar into one of the tall jagged rocks and jumped off the ship onto the side of the rock, precariously standing on a narrow ledge. I hammered out a workbench, quickly repaired the damage to the ship, and built a portal that immediately connected to a portal back home in Weston Hall.

We had made it, and created a foothold. We had made real progress. We were in the Ashlands.

We excitedly jumped down onto the beach where we encountered The Charred, tall, fast skeletal warriors. We encountered lava blobs that would leap at us and explode. We also encountered more giant vultures. They were all there to welcome us properly. And by properly, I mean they wiped us out. Very quickly.

Fortunately, the portal was set up, and we were able to quickly return and die several more times in quick succession. The Ashlands is no joke.

Skyfire and Firlefanz came for a look and also died several times. After many attempts, we managed to explore a little of the nearby area and collect some new material from this harsh, novel place. The new materials unlocked a wealth of new build pieces and crafting items. It’s going to be a hard slog in the Ashlands, but progress was definitely made tonight.

Man accidentally gets leech up his nose. It took 20 days to figure it out.
Leeches have a long medical history. Here's what happens if one gets in your nose.
