Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating! 🦃
We may not be celebrating here in the UK, but we'd still like to extend our thanks to the community we've built across the Open Social Web and all of the people who have guided, advised, and supported us.
Thank you 🧡
Not gonna lie, we are having a family dinner today but it shall not be referred to as "Thanksgiving"
Happy #Thanksgiving everyone! LLAGG (Live long and gobble gobble) 🖖

As women across the U.S. give 150% to make the holidays special just as their mothers did and mothers before them.
#women keep this country together. That’s why I believe so strongly that #indigenous sovereignty is so intrinsically tied to the liberation of #white women.
I know both experiences deeply as many other mixed natives raised by white mothers know. #thanksgiving for a better future.✊🏽

Family cookbooks, filled with handwritten notes, sometimes held together with little more than rubber bands, tell the story of generations of homemakers. Easily lost, they are irreplaceable treasures.
🦃 This #Thanksgiving, celebrate the cultural & family histories on their worn & stained pages ➡️ https://blog.archive.org/2024/09/30/vanishing-culture-preserving-cookbooks/

Today, many Americans celebrate Thanksgiving. My family will be taking advantage of the time given to us to eat and be together. But we will not be celebrating colonialism.
Today is also National Day of Mourning for Native Americans. It was initiated by Frank "Wamsutta" James of the Wampanoag people in 1970.

I believe there was some butter in that garlic butter, but I'm not actually sure.
Remember to mourn the loss of countless indigenous lives through foreign disease, warfare with colonizers, having their kids kidnapped to be raised by white colonizers in their "Good Christian faith," having their women raped and sold into slavery along with the men. Also, mourn the loss of those who have been missing or murdered in our modern times.

This is the season of remembrance and of #Thanksgiving.
Just 6 years after “The First #Thanksgiving” meal, Thomas Morton founded the controversial colony of Merrymount, described as a “school of athesim” and home to the “beastly practices of the mad Bacchanalians”. It's only #thanksgiving in the #usa, but this is an important message.
It's a #colonialist #racist holiday that needs to be shown up for what it is.
