Still looking how to balance your VMs in #Proxmox clusters? #ProxLB 1.1.9 is here!

This release adds features that were requested during the #DutchProxmoxDay2025 which was hosted by our friends Tuxis (tuxis.nl). I'm hearing your feedback and all your feedback from the community and user base is important to me, so let me introduce the following new features:

* Add an optional memory balancing threshold
* Add affinity/anti-affinity support by pools
* Add pressure (PSI) based balancing for memory, cpu, disk
* Pressure (PSI) based balancing for nodes
* Pressure (PSI) based balancing for guests

You can simply upgrade via APT or by obtaining the latest Docker/Container image. PSI based balancing (still in beta) requires Proxmox VE 9 or greater.

Thanks to my employer
@credativ@mastodon.social (https://credativ.de) who provides me the required time to work at this.

@toomanysecrets My fondest memory of #VMS is of EVE, the "extensible #VAX editor", a sort of easter egg which could be activated by invoking the editor command as "edit/tpu" instead of simply "edit." It came with its own scripting language, that included functions that would copy a rectangular grid of characters to different "coordinates." It was fun. I had some of the prettiest quoted text blocks on #Usenet with that editor.

I also really loved the online documentation. Much more plain-English and much more complete (encyclopedic, really) than UNIX man pages of the same era.

Furthermore, #VMS pioneered advanced fault-tolerant, distributed computing with VAXcluster technology, which allowed multiple systems to share a single file system and management domain, establishing VMS as a leader in high-availability enterprise computing. These innovations influenced later designs, including Cutler’s subsequent work on #Microsoft #WindowsNT.

Any of you sharing GPU's without SRIOV?

I have been "abusing" my host OS to run gpu demanding work.
Notably, steam with gamescope so servers aren't single use.
They can server as multi-media centers, but also as couch gaming stations, nas, etc.

Basically trying to push the envelope of HCI (Hyper Converged Infra).

All of this because GPU vendor are greedy and don't want to have SRIOV on consumer grade hardware.

I think the @BoxyBSD project is one of the best ideas for the #opensource community. Providing real and completely free #VPS instances ( #VMs) with #IPv6 is really great for testing and learning.

I really love this project and if you are into #FreeBSD or any other #BSD this might be interesting for you. Just as it is also a #free alternative to bigger hostels like #Hetzner #OVH or #Netcup. I really love the philosophy and idea behind it
