This article i shared the other day has something really important in it that i think fedizens are better prepared to address than most… municipal employees and councillors are not prepared, cognitively, to deal with LLM generated slop.
Many people at #LCF2025 talked about the hours of work time needed to deal with these types of things.

Good honest people in *public service* are being abused by LLM-fueled disinfo because they are bound to respond.

This is a space where we have so much potential to mak it better , if only we can grab the levers.

My #fediforum #lcf2025 crossover is going to be chaotic for me but ultimately so cool. My first workshop session is the Climate Misinformation Fishbowl and Workshop.

It occurs to me that we need to grab on to the #Fediwall client and pretty it up (marketing wise, not necessarily UX) and start letting orgs and agencies open a view (“the fishbowl”) into their own curated fediverse.

I’m setting up a #climate and #sustainability focused wall to show off this next hour.

I fully plan to have one ear in each of my simultaneous conferences today, #LCF2025 and the #fediforum.

Something amazing about social networking, these streams have already crossed in the first hour of LCF, before #fediforum even opened. The “Kitchen Ceilidh” morning plenary already chatted about the importance of having local social media which supports, rather than competes with, real-world community networking.

Everywhere I go, we need FOSS networking platforms. We just don’t know it!

I am quite charmed by the on-stage setup for plenary and panels at ICLEI Canada’s #LCF2025. They are calling it the Kitchen Ceilidh and have a rustic table with mismatched chairs and breakfast dishes set for the speakers to chat over.
