"The video didn’t identify any specific order or U.S military action as 'illegal,' but the message comes at a time of flaring tension between Democrats and the #Trump administration over the administration’s deployment of the #NationalGuard to patrol American cities and military strikes against #Venezuelan drug cartels that are believed to have killed more than 80 people.

" 'Right now, the threats to our #Constitution aren’t just coming from abroad, but from right here at home,' the Democrats said as they took turns reading a single statement. 'Our laws are clear: You can refuse illegal orders.'

"Sen. #ElissaSlotkin of Michigan, a former CIA analyst who served in Iraq, led the messaging effort. It comes on the heels of Sloktin introducing legislation aimed at limiting the president's power to deploy National Guard troops in American cities.

" 'I’ve joined my colleagues in sending a clear message to our brave women and men in uniform,' Goodlander said in a statement. 'We stand with you at a moment when you have been put in a terrible position by a president and a secretary of defense who are testing the boundaries of the law here at home.”

As MJ & other outlets have reported extensively, most of the men had NO serious criminal history in the #US or elsewhere in the world. What they often had instead were #tattoos that bore NO relation to the gang.

In the days before the #Trump admin deported hundreds of #Venezuelan immigrants to #CECOT, a notorious prison in #ElSalvador, the president of that country demanded something: the return of 9 MS13 gang leaders in US custody. Secy of #State #MarcoRubio, in a March 13 phone call with Salvadoran President Nayib #Bukele, promised the request would be fulfilled….But there was one obstacle: Some of the MS-13 members Bukele wanted were “ #informants” under the #protection of the US govt, Rubio told him.

Jones, who lives on the 4th floor, said most of his neighbors were #Venezuelan & often took turns cleaning the hallway because the property owners did little to maintain it.

“They were cool people,” Jones said as he looked into his next door neighbor’s unit. “They didn’t speak a lick of English, but we used translator apps to talk to each other.”

Jones wondered what would happen to his neighbor’s young #children.
