In The Twin Cities, A Massive Strike Against ICE

Icicles hung from the beards of men in union beanies. The lobbies of large commercial buildings in downtown Minneapolis opened to the public for respite filled with people rubbing each other’s sore feet, peeling the sticky adhesive off foot warmers to place them under their socks, and jamming their feet into thickly insulated boots.

Will ICE Ignite a Mass Strike in Minnesota?

Minnesota appears to be in gear for a mass uprising. Unions, community organizations, faith leaders, and small businesses there are calling for a statewide day of “no work (except for emergency services), no school, and no shopping” on January 23. Festering grievances swelled into a national outcry on January 7, after ICE agent Jonathan Ross shot and killed poet and mother of three Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis while she and her wife were observing federal agents swarming her neighborhood. A week later, another federal agent shot a Latino immigrant from Venezuela in the leg.

If your only tool is a hammer, every issue looks like a nail. If you only think of politics through the lense of electoralism, you'll believe such ridiculous things like a need to back the greens because anything else splits the vote.

Which historic changes have been achieved in parliament? None. They were enacted by a parliament, but fought for by mass organizing and in protest on the streets. The best long term alternative I see to the Tories, Labour, and even Reform, is grassroots community organizing, which is the goal of Your Party.

Emancipating people, showing them how they can fight for themselves, instead of carrying the faulty belief that we need representatives to fight for us.

@ErikUden While in principle I like your partys organizational principles the best, its still electoralism and material forces will cause capitalists to infiltrate and corrupt your party, remember 100 years ago labour was a party of the labour movement

You're right that changes are fought for on the ground but we cant let the bells and whistles of party organising hamper the movement, mutual aid is not charity, as soon as our movement becomes solely dependant on investment from yourparty we will become party organs. I'm not saying dont take the money because initial set up can take a lot of cash but dont become dependant on it, build dual power directly coops and mutual aid structures of all kinds

Red Cups Raised in Rebellion, Starbucks Strike Spreads

Several hundred more Starbucks baristas walked out Thursday, the 22nd day of their growing unfair labor practice strike. It is now the longest strike the coffee giant has faced, spreading to 145 stores in more than 100 cities. Kingston, New York, baristas joined the strike early Thursday, and management didn’t even bother trying to open the store. So the workers, joined by supporters, picketed a nearby store in Lake Katrine, piercing the crisp winter air with chants of “What’s disgusting?
