US District Court Judge Sara Ellis said she will issue a sweeping injunction limiting the #UseOfForce by federal #immigration agents in the #Chicago area after she found a litany of violations were committed in recent weeks.

Ellis on Thursday painstakingly detailed instances across the Chicago area in which #BorderPatrol agents used force against residents in violation of her #TRO.

Ellis noted she’s been “receiving emails from the public.” She shared them with lawyers in the suit that prompted #Bovino’s appearance in her courtroom this week & a #TRO earlier this month.

“I do want to note that, certainly, any decision that I made to monitor the effectiveness & compliance of the [TRO] that I entered was based solely on the evidence submitted in this case. It was not, as the government asserts, based on anything outside of the record,”Ellis said.

Judge Perry has handed a draft of her written #CourtOrder to both sides & left the bench. She's letting them look at it until she returns.

We still don't know the exact details of her order. She said she's granting the #TRO "in part," which indicates some part of it is also being denied. Stay tuned.

Frimpong issued the temporary restraining order [#TRO] halting agents from using race or #ethnicity, #language, presence at a particular #location such as a car wash or tow yard, or type of #work, to carry out stops or arrests, as none of those factors alone can establish "reasonable suspicion" of illegality.
