The calculations are very much back of the envelope, first cut, but quite feasible.
A 32billion parameters, frontier level performance compatable open source #llm model. The power requirements is that of 3AC units including cooling. Serves 15-20 concurrent users. 40 households of 4 people each (taking into account actual AI model distributed use metrics and contention ratios)
40 households, subscribing at $30/month over 2 years + power (solar). Train with your own datasets.
Entire set up takes half a rack.

Been thinking about digital access recently. A lot of the organizations that recondition and distribute computer in the community have tied themselves to corporate sponsors and forsaken open source.
I saw this with Austin Free-Net in #Austin and Free Geek here in #Portland
Now, with the forced migration to Windows 11, all that highly usable equipment becomes e-waste.
The failure to adopt user-friendly open source (such as Linux Mint) is jeopardizing #digitalDivide efforts.
We shouldn't need platforms owned by the biggest losers on the planet to live happy, healthy, connected lives. Our fledgling network of technologists and organisers aims to make tech billionaires obsolete by co-creating our own means of production.
