Thanks again for the help. After some reflection on previous solo-camping with toddler I realise a key thing to yr round happiness is a better sleeping pad.

The high R-value ones we have are bulky. So I'm considering a strong somewhat "lightweight/compact" duo pad*.

Combined with a <2kg tent (Hubba 2p) I'm ok transporting this.

Any ideas / experiences with this setup?

They're heavier and bulkier than I hoped, but angry-toddler-resilience and price are limits.

Alternatives are Big Agnes C Bar 2 and S2S Alto TR2 Plus

My current "compact & light" tent is 20yrs old. And last nights somewhat wet camping with toddler shows that it's beyond repair. Since the year 2k I've also got updated requirements (and budget!)...

Required:
-compact & light to transport (walking/cycling)
-fits one adult & one toddler
-somewhat affordable (subjective)

Nice to have:
-able to set up outside first
-freestanding
