i made a zine about my dog

biggest print ever for me, it is two 9x12 blocks

yes, every single copy is hand-printed

A 5 photo collage showing the front and back cover as well as 3 full spreads of a folded zine about Kestrel, my dog, who is a 65lb Malinois with a goofy smile and floppy ears. it is printed in two layers of color, blue and orange, and each image depicts Kestrel in various posts... alert and watchful, resting, looking mopey, wearing a sweatshirt.

apparently #portfolioDay is a thing?

i do a lot of other artistic/crafty things (leatherworking, fiber arts) but one of my mediums is block printing! so i'll share a few of those

all are worked from original photographs, either my own or with permission of the photographer

here, the pidge is based on a photo by the talented @studiochris and the quorbs (quail orbs) are from the lovely @handmade_ghost

the loon is my own photography, and my wife took the raccoon photo

a block print in blue-grey ink on off-white paper depicting a very large and in charge pigeon, staring right at you

a block print in dark blue ink on medium blue paper depicting a grinning (or snarling?) raccon. he waves his tiny clawed hand in greeting...or warning

a stack of hand-printed greeting cards, with one opened to show the full print across back and front of the card. a loon, rearing up with outstretched wings, fills the width of the card. the fold sits right past the loon's turned head and aligns loosely with its spine.

a block print in black and brown-gradient ink of a pair of extremely plump quails. the black layer is most of the detail, and the brown gradient fills in coloration on the breast feathers. the quails look towards each other lovingly and their fetching headpieces look at though they are bobbing away

kestrel is a big golden brown malinois mutt with a dark snout. he's lying in a funny pose, kinda on his back/ side with one paw bent and lying on the bed and the other outstretched diagonally up into the air. he was almost certainly asleep while doing this.
