Nice reminder for all communicating #scientists to be specific (by the Science Media Center):

"Talking about systems and processes and strategy without giving any examples of what that looks like to normal people reading the news puts even more distance between scientists and the people. The public are alienated and the meaning is lost."

In #Goerlitz, Germany, a complex #sundial - perfect for the host city of the #ag2025goerlitz astronomy convention all week.

At the opening reception of the #ag2025goerlitz astronomy conference in #Goerlitz I spotted this poster about the benefits of the #Fediverse for #ScienceCommunication - great arguments but ... what about longterm stability? Will important and maybe even influential #Mastodon posts be still around in 5, 10, 50 years? On much-despised X - or FB - those from 10+ years ago are still around (if you know the URLs).

I’ve been gaining some new followers recently, so it’s time for a reintroduction!

I’m a scientist and macrophotographer, fascinated by all the amazing creatures that live in the soil! I use my photography and media appearances to do science communication on soil biodiversity, to spread awareness and love for the world beneath our feet. Oh, and I’ve got a major book deal to write a popular science book on this subject, which I’m extremely excited about!

Follow my page for interesting soil animal facts, macrophotography and updates!
