If you're a furloughed federal worker
Running out of cash
Wait right here I tell you
Stop digging through the trash
Since you live in Florida
There's a thing I've got to say
There's a way to feed your family
And you won't have to pay
Because it's so dang frosty
Iguanas fall from trees
If you need some dinner
Just bend over on your knee!
Find yourself a nice fat lizard
Stunned in the cold
And here's some handy recipes
That won't get old!
Iguana stew if fanciful
And will keep your kids bellies full
Maybe an iguana burrito
That's no bull
So what if the Feds won't pay you
And you can't pay for food
Frozen iguanas from heaven!
Will put everyone in a good mood!
Just load 'em up in your vehicle
On the way back from the food bank
Make sure to clean and skin them
After whacking them with a plank
Your tummy will be happy
Even if your wallet is not
Your kids won't have to starve

“CHICKEN OF THE TREES”-IGUANA RECIPE IDEAS
According to Dr. Bill Kern, associate professor, En-
tomology and Nematology Department, Ft. Lauder-
dale Research and Education Center, UF/IFAS
FLREC, iguana meat is mild flavored and usually not
tough. Most of the meat is on the legs, along the spine
and on the tail. Rib meat is usually not worth the ef-
fort. De-boned iguana meat is very well suited to cur-
ries, soups, stews, gumbo, and etouffée. The imma-
ture eggs from females can be saved and added to
soup and stews. Small animals are usually cut into
pieces and boiled, then cooled enough to pick off the
meat. The meat is then returned to the pot for soups
and stews. Large animals (over 4 ft.) can be de-
boned and the dorsal meat filleted. The raw de-
boned meat then must be thor-
oughly cooked in any way you
would prepare diced or sliced
raw chicken.

Hands up if you believe in virgin birth. Nobody? Well... an iguana in a UK zoo has given birth to eight tiny hatchlings, despite never having met a male iguana.
"It's a miracle!"
Nope, it's called 'parthenogenesis' where an embryo develops directly from an egg without being fertilised. The babies are all perfect clones of their mum. Many species have this ability, mainly lizards.
There's a delightful comment from the zoo's owner: "They all speak at exactly the same time."
Bless their tiny green souls.
