I have now looked at so many "scientific authoring" solutions that want to rival LaTeX and every single one of them has a github discussion stating "Hey, please support SI quantities", an open pull request or kludgy plugin to that end.
My brothers and sisters in Science, typesetting SI quantities correctly is 50% of scientific publishing.
“pandoc for the people”, the pandoc wasm web-app, is now available at https://pandoc.org/app/
It allows to run any kind of document conversion that pandoc supports in the browser. The documents never leave the computer, thus ensuring *full privacy*.
Conversions to pdf are done via Typst.

@stefanmuelller @kuf @langscipress @geeeero @pandoc @typst Na, da steige ich doch auch gleich mal ein und bringe noch #orgmode ins spiel ("Markdown on Steroids"). Für SFB-Anträge bleibe ich ebenso erstmal bei #TeXLaTeX (https://doi.org/10.18154/RWTH-2022-10554 - Neufassung in Arbeit)

Bin weitgehend von "direktem" #TeXLaTeX weg und nutze nur noch #orgmode mit M-x org-latex-export-to-pdf 🙂 Kollaborativ arbeiten kann man direkt in #Emacs mit #crdt.el.
#Typst oder #SILE kämen für mich erst infrage, wenn sie in #Debian drin sind. Externe Pakete machen auf Dauer nur Ärger.
Wenn Ihr #word aufgebt, es ist eh Schrott, denkt mal über LaTeX nach. Am Anfang muss man ein bisschen was lernen, aber dann kriegt man sehr gut gesetzte Texte.
@stefanmuelller Wobei ich für die Leute, die ganz neu anfangen, eher #Quarto und #Typst empfehlen würde.
