Here is the monthly photo looking up the allotment. Today's visit was the first for a month due to health reasons so it will have to do for August and September. The runner beans have finished cropping, the potatoes have been lifted and the wallflower plants in the foreground are nearly ready to be moved back home. We have started picking the apples (out of shot) with a view to making cider next month.

As with previous months, the main thing you can see is the runner beans. These make a huge contribution to the compost heap....when I get round to cutting them down!

Quick #coffee in the garden before today's lunch and event. Drinking #beans from Nicaragua that I bought last week at Kaldi. I need a proper small table for the garden tho.

Camellia Tea Ceremony
@camelliakyoto@mastodon.social  ·  activity timestamp 9 months ago

For most communities the New Year began with the first full moon of the first month.

It was customary to eat 'azuki-gayu' (小豆粥), a rice gruel mixed with red adzuki beans, for health and to exorcise evil spirits.
Red was considered a protective colour, especially against disease.
