Today is the 6-year anniversary of my first major #cancer surgery. Hard to believe so much time has passed for me.
I was diagnosed with Stage 3B rectal cancer in early March 2019 and through the course of the year I had 8 rounds of #chemotherapy, 31 #radiation treatments, and ultimately multiple surgeries.
Specifically, on this day in 2019, I had a 3cm tumor, 14cm of my large intestine including my entire rectum, and a dozen lymph nodes surgically removed in a procedure called a Low Anterior Resection.
I want to encourage everyone to get screened for #Colorectalcancer. If you're age 45 or older, your healthcare insurance should pay for screening. Please get a #colonoscopy so that you won't have to go through what I did. Colorectal Cancer is preventable!

"Jakarta (ANTARA) - Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq has instructed a team to investigate the alleged radioactive contamination of Cesium-137 (Cs-137) in Indonesian clove products, as reported by the United States Food and Drug Administration.
“We dispatched a team today and plan to visit the company on Saturday to take further action,” he said on Wednesday."

First article from Indonesia acknowledging the new case of Cesium-137 contamination, in spices. It appears they have not yet started the investigation to trace exactly how those spices got contaminated. (800km away from the shrimp). (best case is they have shared radioactive shipping containers from the same scrap metal, worse case is there's more Cs-137 floating around Indonesia undetected).

Interesting, so the most radioactive things here at my house (only slightly above background, not terribly radioactive):
1. Granite countertop (this is a known thing)
2. Night lights (apparently, tritium in there to make them glow)
3. Smoke detectors (bit o'radioactivity in there)
4. Rebar in the garden (hmmmmmmmmmmmm... apparently some radioactivity in the stream, this is where it's shown up in massive contamination events in the past, i.e Ciudad Juarez and the radioactive Taiwanese apartments).
5. Maybe (tough to tell) -- some of the newer drywall. Only slightly more active against it, not a lot.
What provides far more clicking was standing out in the sun. LOL
The least radioactive place (least detections/clicks) in my yard is inside a shed where the roof has a thin layer of metal on it (radiant barrier), and the door is currently covered with a heat reflective metal tarp. (obviously, also radiation reflecting). Almost no detections at all! #radiation
