At #FediCollective, we’re building a cozy, in-person #ThirdSpace in Metro Vancouver i.e. a gathering spot for builders, creatives & organizers on the #OpenWeb.

We host coffee chats, co-working, and walk-and-talks centering care, creativity & connection specially for BIPOC & LGBTQ+ communities.

Building vs. Complaining on the Social Web
Last week, saw someone post about what's wrong with the Fediverse vibe & decentralized social media for LGBT folx. I'm in the tech.lgbt server since 2023. It's not vibes as the issue, it's lack of action. Instead of pointing out the wrongs, do what's helpful.

Here's what I've learned from actually building community here
✅ We've created real IRL #ThirdSpace meetups in Vancouver directly after #FediCon2025 via #FediCollective & #PeerTube coop
✅ Connected BIPOC & LGBTQ+ creators across platforms
✅ Built supportive spaces for wellness & grief recovery
✅ Fostered genuine relationships that extend beyond screens

The vibe of any space is what we collectively create. Instead of waiting for someone else to fix the problems we see, be the change you want to see.

1. Community First: As an alcohol-free and family-friendly event, the focus is on clear-headed conversations and genuine connection. Feel free to bring your kids and pets along; this is a space where your whole self is welcome

2. Accessible to All: Events are designed to be economically affordable for everyone. Located near a Skytrain station with free parking, we've removed the barriers so anyone can join the conversation and contribute

3. Intentional Connection: The goal isn't just networking; it's to have intentional conversations with developers, designers, and thinkers who are all about building a better #OpenWeb
