Tonight's #Hugo Award ceremony marked the climax of Seattle #Worldcon 2025, this year's edition of the world's premier science-fiction convention. Check out this report about the new crop of Hugos, mostly because there are links to all of the award winners. https://cosmiclog.com/2025/08/16/star-trek-lower-decks-doubles-up-on-hugo-awards/#HugoAwards#ScienceFiction#Books#Space#StarTrek#StarTrekLowerDecks
Attended a table talk this morning with @emilymbender and it was amazing, I learned a lot about how to be an effective advocate when arguing for policies and regulations that push back against AI boosterism.
It's been lovely #worldcon and I have a final non-secret autographing session this evening at 6pm in the regular-degular autographing area in the Garden Lounge (table 3F).

On Wednesday due to technical issues we couldn't screen my films, at #worldcon but this will now happen on Saturday,

If you are participating in #worldcon2025 here is a chance to see two of my most recent films, and there will be a QandA after that you can give me feedback.

Happy #worldcon to those who celebrate!
Wandering.Shop's origin story is that it was built to model and keep alive the "coffee shop at a busy convention" vibe, in virtual space. I believe that convention WAS Worldcon (those who know I'm wrong, please update me!)
In celebration of the loosely timed, nearly-9th anniversary of the idea of Wandering.Shop, please read the next post below this.

I'm not onsite at #Worldcon today or tomorrow or Friday but I will be on the weekend. Any other shop patrons around?
Turns out, unsurprisingly, that American fascism is bad for tourism and U.S.-based conferences. (You'd have to be an idiot to organize an international gathering inside the U.S. at this point.)

A large number of international attendees have dropped out of attending the World Science Fiction Convention being held in Seattle this weekend.

Controversies over the use of #AI stirred up a lot of buzz in advance of Seattle #Worldcon 2025, the big science-fiction convention taking place this week. They're also a big topic at the event, and not just because intelligent machines are standard plot devices in #science #fiction. https://www.geekwire.com/2025/worldcon-ai-concerns/ #sciencefiction #tech

If you are at #worldcon today I have a reading at 4:30 in room 428! I'll read from Automatic Noodle and give you a sneak reading of my WIP, about a slime mold who is a graduate student! Plus I have some stickers!! #bookstodon

Thousands of science-fiction and fantasy fans are converging on #Seattle for #Worldcon 2025 - which marks the first time the world's premier sci-fi convention has been held in the Jet City since the techno-optimistic times of the Seattle World's Fair in the 1960s. https://www.geekwire.com/2025/worldcon-2025-past-future-science-fiction-seattle/#Space#Tech#ScienceFiction#Fantasy
In the latest episode of the #FictionScience podcast, Tim Chawaga talks about the parallels between the plot of his first novel, #Salvagia, and the real-world thrills and chills that are likely to sweep over America's coastal areas due to future sea level rise. Tim will be visiting Seattle for this week's #Worldcon sci-fi convention. https://cosmiclog.com/2025/08/11/climate-fiction-thriller-explores-floridas-flooded-future/#Climate#Science
