Does anyone else have an issue with Mastodon automatically refreshing their timeline on mobile whenever their device's screen is unlocked?
I'm using Moshidon on Android but I suspect it may be a Mastodon issue. It's a right pain in the arse and I want to stop it so I can continue reading my timeline where I left off, not where it thinks I should.

Can any of you fine folk recommended any Blender tutorials for a complete beginner?

Hello #Forkiverse adventurers! Welcome to the Fediverse! We are glad that you are here.
Probably now you have a very boring feed. This is how you moderate it. Go onto the live feed button and scroll. If there is someone interesting, follow them. You can unfollow them later if you like.
Then follow some hashtags. Use the number symbol and a word in the search bar and see if anyone is there, then follow the hashtag. Those posts will end up on your feed.
If you have a question, try typing #askfedi

I've been thinking about how, at least the western world, operates a year counting system based on a religion not everyone follows, and less so year by year.
So, if we were to ditch the Christ was allegedly born numbering system, what scientific, rational system would we implement instead? This basically boils down to what year would we start at.
Famously UNIX starts its dates at Jan 1st 1970, so that's a candidate.
Otherwise zero could simply be the start of the next calendar year after the decision, minus numbers for preceding years.
Or we could choose a significant historical or scientific event as year zero, say the discovery of the general theory of relativity.
What else would make a good zero year?
For those who don't know, my (current) job is social media manager and my main client is @time_for_kindness who posts stories of kindness every single day to show that it's happening all the time in the world.
I need your examples of kindness please!
No kindness too small. I just need enough stories so that I can get all of December scheduled & thus take time off!
You can be anonymous just please let me know acts of kindness that you've seen, done or received!

Question: Have there been any attempts to rigidly define the composition of a "Software Stack" (i.e. with less information content than the whole #SBOM)? Maybe with a machine-readable format? Even with a scanner??

i'm hoping to find a wheeled cart i can put my computer tower on with an upper surface i can put, for instance, a monitor on. i've included an example of what i am seeking, because i can find things that fit the bill, but i don't know what brands are any good.
does anyone have one they'd recommend?
i don't need built-in outlets, though i would not be opposed. i just want something well-built and sturdy that will suit my needs, which are:
- fits your average ATX tower
- has an upper surface above the tower
- has casters
Edit: sorted, it's https://mastoreader.io/
Dear fedi, is there a "threader" type thing for fedi theads?
As in: give it a multi-post Fediverse thread, receive a single HTML page with it written out kinda sorta like an article?
Thanks!

I am rather clumsy, and frequently drip plant-based butter on my shirt. And despite washing the shirt in the washing machine (even repeatedly), the mark remains.
Any suggestions on removing this stain so I don't keep ruining shirts?
