As I use #Conversations #XMPP client to chat with my family I configured it to be also an #UnifiedPush distributor.
This reuses the already existing XMPP connection to also serve other android apps for push messages.
On server side I used #ejabberd community module mod_unified_push.

It works nicely.
When I update event in nextcloud, DAVx⁵ gets notified and update is immediately synced to phone.
When I get new notification on Mastodon, Tusky is notified and notification shows on phone.

I hope more apps are going to support this in near feature.

En els darrers anys he instal·lat tres servidors #xmpp diferents, ejabberd, Prosody i Openfire. La meva tria personal és #ejabberd. Robust com cap (Erlang) i molt lleuger menjant recursos, ni el notes.

A la meva parella li agrada més xmpp que Delta Chat. I ara què? 😅
Els dos estem provant el servidor #ejabberd (#xmpp) que he muntat a spla.cat per a ús personal, tot ben configurat, fins i tot amb video trucades. Funciona tot perfecte. 👏🏼
És una bona manera de tenir màxima privacitat, servidor propi on ningú pot xafardejar res.

Estic provant l'aplicació #Monal ( #xmpp) per a #iOS en la seva versió 6.4.17 (1072) perquè els seus programadors l'han millorat molt des de la darrera vegada que la vaig fer anar.
Per a provar-la a fons he instal·lat un servidor #ejabberd versió 26.1.0 en el meu domini personal spla.cat. Efectivament, Monal ha millorat moltíssim, funcionen perfectament les notificacions, OMEMO activat i configurat automàticament i per defecte etc. Molt bé tot. 👏🏼✅

Ja, @mailbox_org nutzt meines Wissens einen sieben Jahre alten #ejabberd. Möchte nicht wissen, wie viele längst gelöste Bugs da drin sind, schlimmstenfalls auch #security bugs.

#aTalk kenne ich vom Namen her, aber ich kenne niemanden, der diesen #Jabber client nutzt. D.h. es wird vielleicht etwas schwieriger dafür Hilfe zu kriegen.

Bei Matrix ist es auch so: Manche clients funktionieren nicht mit manchen servers 🤷
