Judge Charles Breyer of the US District Court in San Francisco found this week that a similar operation in #LosAngeles earlier this year violated the #PosseComitatusAct, a federal #law that prohibits #US troops from participating in civilian law enforcement. The #Trump admin has appealed the ruling.

#JBPritzker, the #Illinois governor, has repeatedly decried any plan to send #troops to #Chicago without the consent of #state & local leaders. On Tues, he told reporters that “in the absence of significant federal coordination,” his team had gathered information from “patriotic officials inside the government & from well-sourced reporters about Donald Trump’s plan, which is to deploy armed #military personnel to the streets of Chicago.”
