In an extremely disappointing, but predictable decision, Joe Szakacs MP has approved the City of Marion request to revocate the community land status of Chestnut Court Reserve, in preparation for the land to be sold to MAB CCT to build a showroom and battery facility for Tesla.
THIS CAN STILL BE STOPPED: THE PROPOSAL NOW MOVES BACK TO THE COUNCIL FOR A FINAL VOTE.
Contact your local representatives and the Council, tell them why, again, this must be rejected. 🌳🌳

Joe said he “warmly welcomes investment and the creation of jobs in our state”, and though he notes “genuine community concern around tree maintenance and the availability of open spaces”, he’s is satisfied with the Council’s plan.
That is, he “warmly welcomes” investment from renowned fascist Elon Musk, and jobs in his unstable at best, failing at worst, company Tesla.
Tesla, who are currently subject to a 10,000 person Australian class action lawsuit, as well as at least 16 lawsuits globally, with an even longer history of more. A company subject to a new lawsuit basically weekly at this rate.
Elon Musk and his companies’ well documented history of environmental, labour, and workers violations have been seemingly ignored, not even mentioned in his statement.
These are not allegations, these are facts. They cannot be ignored.
How can a government say it is “people before profits” but be so willing to ignore these in favour of doing business?
The community knows Elon Musk.
They know his companies, and they know his influence.
They know this man is a fascist, and they have said they do not want his business here.
And yet here we are, with the State Government following the Council’s and ignoring a 95% disapproval community response to do business. This is democracy manifest.

My Adelaide coasters arrived! I'm super happy with the PCB, it came out beautifully.

Edit: These will be available as a prize for a stamp rally event at OzComicCon Adelaide, and after that I'll make them available for purchase on my store and any markets I appear at.

Edit2: The for-sale versions of this will be rebuilt with OSM data, as the original design was based on SnazzyMaps-styled Google Maps. There will be some differences.

Edit3: #Adelaide + #Canberra are live! https://shop.chenonetta.com/product/pcb-map-coasters/

#Adelaide keeps losing the spaces that stitch our movements together - The Joinery, ABK, gig venues, studios. Last month at SAGE, we flipped the script and ASKED: “What if we owned one instead?”

Out of that convo grew The Roundabout Project: a coalition of @saveourspaces_sa, @sage_southaus, @rewind + friends, chasing a radical but totally doable goal – buy (or build) a big ol’ mixed-use hub that belongs to the #community forever. 🏡

Sounds wild? Not really:
🔩 The Castlemaine Co-op have raised $2M from 600 locals to snap up their first building!
🌱 Lutruwita Activist & Mutual Aid Collective (https://www.instagram.com/lama.collective/) is already 1/3 of the way to a $60 k social-centre fund in nipaluna (Hobart).

If they can, we can too! ✊

So we’re hosting an Open Strategy Night - part reunion, part brainstorm, part pot-luck. Whether you weld bikes, crunch numbers, write grants, stir soups or just bring good vibes, come add your puzzle piece.

📆 THIS THURSDAY 7 AUG, 6:30 pm
📍 Rewind Sound & Studios, 7A Barrpowell St Welland
🍲 Bring a plate to share, if you have the beans!

We’ll:
- recap the SAGE double-headline workshop,
- swap feedback + fresh ideas,
- map next steps (working groups, co-budgeting, needs matrix, building hunt),
- show you how to join our working chat!

Bring a mate, your curiosity and a plate to share! All welcome - you don’t need to be a SAGE regular. If you can’t make it, reach out to us here for our working/organising chat and stay in the loop!

Let’s turn “someone should do something” into “look what we built”. See you this Thursday! 💚
