@evan not so much! Car clubs are not very active here. Interesting stats in the Guardian article about lack of options and volume in the UK market.

It (largely) no longer affects me, as an EV owner; but, I went ~7 years living in London purely with public transport and Zipcar. I did still use the service when I needed a van for small errands; useful!

Definitely disappointing news.

There are alternatives in the UK! I use Co-wheels regularly in Glasgow (https://www.co-wheels.org.uk), it's in several other UK cities too. Just checked: unfortunately they are not in London (see screenshot below) but maybe they'll take over from Zipcar? It's really convenient and they mostly have either electric or hybrids. Thanks to them I don't have to own a car :)

(it is too bad that Zipcar is closing though, I wonder why?)

Nachdem der Citroën C2, den sie mit in die Beziehung gebracht hatte, den Geist aufgegeben hatte, kauften wir 2018 einen gebrauchten Ford Fiesta. Da sich ab 2020 das Fahrrad zu meinem Hauptverkehrsmittel entwickelte und wir zwar nicht zentral, aber durch die Stadt- und S-Bahn sehr gut angebunden wohnen, wurde das Auto allerdings nur für Urlaube, Fahrten zur Familie oder aus Gemütlichkeit genutzt. Das stand schon länger im Konflikt mit unseren Überzeugungen und nun wagten wir diesen Schritt.

Der private Autoverkehr muss, damit wir die #Klimakatastrophe wenigstens noch ein ganz kleines bisschen abmildern können, weg vom individuellen Kfz und hin zum vollelektrischen #Carsharing. Autos stehen im Durchschnitt eh mehr als 23 Stunden nur irgendwo rum.

Ich bin jedenfalls gespannt, wie die nächsten Wochen und Monate für uns und besonders für meine Frau, die ihr gesamtes Erwachsenenleben ein Auto hatte, werden.
