A multitude of white-edged shelf fungi festoon this fallen log; as seen top down. The "background" is the rather damp, dark brown, leaf litter.

Water droplets form on the tips of a green fern frond. As seen looking slightly up so the sori (spore clusters) are visible

An out-of-focus fern frond photobombs a large stump festooned with Mountain-Fern Moss. The moss does, for tall the world, look something between little ferns and/or large feathers.

Splitgill mushrooms (𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘻𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘺𝘭𝘭𝘶𝘮 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘦), from Thompson Park last July:

#FungiFriday #Mushtodon #fungi

Several whitish fan-shaped mushrooms growing on a branch with rough gray and brown bark. The mushrooms are seen from the bottom, the deep ridges of their gills spreading out like a warped folding fan.

Golden jelly fungus

A Yellow Brain Fungus growing on a dead tree. The fungus has a striking, gelatinous, deep yellow color. Its fruiting body is irregularly shaped, highly lobed, and convoluted, resembling a tangled mass of brain-like folds or gelatinous leaves.

A low-angle photograph of a single mushroom with saturated red, speckled with numerous small, white pyramidal warts that stands out vividly against a muted background.

This striking color is the only vibrant element in the photograph. The stem is thick, pure white, and smooth, providing a stark contrast to the red cap. It's relatively short and substantial, rising from the dark ground.

Everything surrounding the mushroom, the immediate foreground and the background foliage, is rendered in a monochromatic palette of deep grays, blacks, and whites.

Rood met witte stippen

#FungiFriday #Mushtodon #Nature #Photography

A close-up photograph of four mushrooms growing on a forest floor covered in dark leaf litter. Three large, mature mushrooms with bright red caps and white spots stand tall on white stems, alongside a smaller, younger specimen. The background is a softly blurred forest of green and brown trees, with circles of dappled light filtering through the canopy.

Speed hiking training in the books. Today it was uphill interval training (8x 2 min full out followed by 2 min easy). On my way down I was able to re-find the spots for #FungiFriday, #Mosstodon and #ThickTrunkThursday I saw on the way up.

Herfst

#FungiFriday #Mushtodon #Photography

Two small, delicate mushrooms growing in a patch of green grass. In the foreground, a single mushroom stands tall and in sharp focus. Its cap is a pale beige color and has a distinct, ribbed or pleated texture, similar to a fan or umbrella. In the blurred background, another mushroom can be seen, its details softened by a shallow depth of field. The surrounding ground is covered in a mixture of dark green blades of grass and other leafy plants, some of which are slightly out of focus.
