I am atheist, and make it clear to those around me that I do not want religion in my life. But because my mom is hyper-religious, the only way to not get subjected to regular prayers would be to cut her out of my life. My mom just won't read the room.
With many of my friends, they have expressed spirituality and/or religion is important to them and I am glad to offer interest in their going-ons, without imposing my world view.
It's a shame when one party imposes their will on another. Shouldn't we practice kindness and respect for those we profess to care about, and want the best for them?
