In China entsteht in der Kubuqi-Wüste eine riesige Solaranlage, die in Anlehnung an die Chinesische Mauer die „Grüne Chinesische Solarmauer“ genannt wird.
400 km lang und 5 km breit soll sie am Ende werden und Peking mit 22 Mio. Einwohnern komplett versorgen können. Zusätzlich hofft man, die Wüste damit zu „begrünen“, weil die PV-Anlage den Wüstenboden beschattet.
